Commercial Driving Academy Program Coordinator

The LearningForce, Commercial Driving Academy Instructor provides instruction, program design & updates, recruitment, outreach, analysis, coordination and communication of the program. The program is designed to train new truck drivers in the rules of the road, keeping logs, administering equipment inspections, understanding regulations and how to drive. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to earn their Class A CDL license. The training is a four-week program that incorporates classroom time and driving time in a hybrid format following a set schedule for training. As students increase their driving abilities, they experience increasing amounts of traffic and different types of roads and road conditions. The Instructor will exhibit a positive example of customer service while participating in the efforts of The LearningForce unit. The Instructor must work effectively with members of the team, internal and external departments while delivering instruction, data entry, upkeep services and support with little to no error. The Instructor reports directly to the executive director of The LearningForce. The Instructor is responsible for the following duties and tasks:

Knowledge of: Customer service processes and procedures, effective communication skills, data entry and upkeep, and office environment processes. Have a general understanding systems including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management, managing files and records, coordination of people and resources, and greeting training participants. Understanding and experience of Microsoft Office software and possess fluent computer skills. Possess knowledge of procedures for and ability to execute pre-trip inspection, air-brake test and CDL driving essentials (i.e. straight-line backing, 90-degree alley-docking, parallel parking-sight side/blind side). Ability to instruct using manual transmission in a variety of driving environments (i.e. driving highway, city, night vs. day, in different weather conditions). A demonstrated ability to maintain equipment. Motivation, dedication, professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm for teaching.
Ability to: Provide documentation of a clean driving record. Pass a DOT physical. Pass DOT drug test upon hire and on an ongoing routine basis. Provide outstanding customer service and engagement with unit participants, including internal and external units. Provide informative and accurate information, manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, and generate accurate reporting and documentation. Manage regular assignments that may require a quick, yet thorough, response to meet deadlines and expectations. Exhibit a positive attitude and teamwork approach to daily task and interactions.
